Terms of Service

Last updated: 29 October 2026

These terms apply whenever you book a service with Dog & District. Please read them alongside our Cancellation Policy and Privacy Policy.

1. About us

Dog & District provides dog walking, home visits, pet sitting and related services in and around Greenwich, London. You can contact us at info@doganddistrict.com.

2. Enquiries, meet-and-greets and bookings

  • Sending an enquiry doesn't create a booking.
  • Every new customer starts with a free meet-and-greet so we can get to know you and your dog.
  • A booking is confirmed only when we've agreed the service, schedule and price and confirmed them to you in writing (email or message is fine).
  • We may decline or end a booking if we believe a service isn't suitable or safe for your dog, for other dogs, for us or for the public.

3. Prices and payment

  • Prices on our website are a guide. The price confirmed for your booking is the one that applies.
  • Regular walks and visits are invoiced weekly or monthly, as agreed, and payment is due within 7 days of the invoice.
  • Overnight, weekend and holiday sitting requires a 50% deposit to secure your dates, with the balance due before the booking starts.
  • Short-notice bookings (less than 24 hours) may carry the short-notice premium shown on our pricing page.
  • Offers such as the Greenwich Resident Discount and Refer a Friend are subject to their own terms and can't be combined unless we say so.
  • We may review our prices. We'll give at least 30 days' notice of any change to a regular booking.

4. Information about your dog

  • You agree to give us accurate information about your dog's health, vaccinations, medication, behaviour and history, and to tell us promptly about any changes.
  • Dogs must be fully vaccinated (or following their vet's guidance as puppies), treated regularly for fleas and worms, microchipped and wearing an ID tag, as required by UK law.
  • Please tell us about any history of biting, aggression, escaping or reactivity. This helps us keep your dog and others safe.

5. Walks and handling

  • Dogs are walked on a lead unless you give written permission for off-lead time and we judge it safe and appropriate at the time.
  • Small-group walks are only offered to dogs who are well suited to company. We may move a dog to solo walks if a group isn't working for them.
  • We use calm, reward-based handling and never use harsh or aversive methods or equipment.
  • We only walk in places where professional dog walking is permitted.

6. Health, illness and emergencies

  • If your dog becomes unwell or is injured in our care, we'll contact you and your emergency contact straight away.
  • If we can't reach you, you authorise us to take your dog to your registered vet, or the nearest available vet, for treatment we reasonably believe is needed.
  • You're responsible for veterinary costs for your dog, except where the injury was caused by our negligence.

7. Canine massage and wellness

Wellness services support relaxation and general wellbeing and are not a substitute for veterinary care. We don't diagnose or treat illness or injury. Where a dog has a medical condition or is under veterinary treatment, we'll need guidance from your vet before any hands-on session.

8. Training

Training uses positive, reward-based methods. Every dog learns at their own pace, and we don't guarantee specific results. Where a dog needs specialist behavioural support, we'll recommend a suitably qualified professional.

9. Keys and access to your home

  • Keys and access codes are stored securely and are never labelled with your address.
  • We'll only enter your home to provide the services you've booked.
  • Keys are returned when our services end, or at any time you ask.

10. Photos and updates

We'll send you photos and updates as agreed. We'll only share photos of your dog publicly, for example on social media, with your permission.

11. Cancellations

Our Cancellation Policy explains notice periods, charges and refunds.

12. Insurance and liability

  • We take great care of every dog, but we aren't responsible for illness or injury arising from a condition you didn't tell us about, or from your dog's own behaviour where we've acted with reasonable care.
  • You remain legally responsible for your dog, including any damage or injury your dog causes, except where it results from our negligence.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that can't be limited by law.

13. Complaints

If something isn't right, please email info@doganddistrict.com. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and aim to resolve it within 14 days.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll let regular customers know about any significant change before it takes effect.

15. Your rights and the law

These terms don't affect your statutory rights as a consumer. They're governed by the law of England and Wales.
